EA has just announced that Dead Space for Wii will not be a direct port of the 360 game, instead, it will be a completely new and original game designed specifically for the wii...here's an interview IGN had with the game's developer-

Dead Space: Extraction Interview

There is more on the game in the newsroom, as well as the latest teaser trailer. Here's the link- .[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Personally, after playing the 360 version(I'm about half way done), I'm really excited this isn't going to be a port...I am slightly disappointed it's on rails though...seems like that could really damage the atmosphere of the game, and it just seems unnecessary...why do developers think the wii must be degraded to on-rails games? Sigh...still looks good though.

So this is gonna be something like house of the dead then? If it is Im gonna wait on voting on the poll cuz I might not get it. specially if its only 1 person. I just hope there gonna put new videos of the gameplay actually at least soon. When was the game coming out again?

Actually, from what I read in the interview, it will feature 2 player online co-op play...which should be pretty amazing....and a lot of people have compared it to House of the Dead, which is cool...

But I'm playing the 360 one now, which is a lot like RE4 in controls...and while on-rails might be fun online, I'd prefer the RE4 style...

Here's the trailer if people don't want to go and look tongue

Here's an update on this upcoming game from IGN-

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I'm still weary about the on rails aspect of this game, but I have to say the graphics are extremely impressive...and these are the guys who brought us the amazing game on the 360/PS3, so I'm starting to feel more pumped. Even better is the co-op option, which will really make things even cooler...

I just hope it has an online option....either way, this is a game the Wii needs, and luckily it's not all that long before it comes out...

Another game that just does not look that good.

The Wii is the only console in history where you could play light gun style shooters right out of the box. And there have been several light gun titles on the cosole so far, but one thing that they all share? They are all either new games from existing IPs or remakes of older games.

Until someone is willing to step up and creat an original first person light gun game, I'm not going to bother with what's already there.

Ok...except for Darkside Chronicles.

Honestly, I'm more excited for this than Darkside Chronicles. I felt Umbrella Chronicles was mediocre at best(mainly because most of the environments were literally ripped out of RE0, REmake, and RE Outbreak). If you've played Dead Space, you'll know they put a lot of time and effort into it, and surprisingly enough, the graphics for Extraction look nearly as good as the 360 version...

I find that the entire Light Gun genre itself should be relegated to Arcades, and Arcades alone. Sure an original game might be nice...but c'mon, how about a real 3rd person shooter like Dead Space was supposed to be? I appreciate the guy in the interview's enthusiasm, but when he says he's bringing something new to the wii, I couldn't help but laugh.
