Blast Works is probably the Wii's most overlooked title, and it's a crying shame.

Blast Works is a unique shmup for the Wii that lets players build upon their ship from the broken remains of enemies. It's fun, though I don't think the mechanics are as tight as they should be for the genre.

What makes the game great is the level of customization. You can create entire levels, ships, enimies, power ups, etc. Pretty much what ever you can think of can be done. Here are a few examples of levels that are entirely user created, right down to the player's ship...

Wow, that was really something! Far different than I expected.

So let me get this straight...you make everything in this game? right down to the music, design of the stage, and the enemies you face? If this is true, the fact that someone actually created that musical stage is breathtaking...if I keep seeing more stuff like this, you might just have me sold Gimic...

Well, the music wasn't created by the user, but everything else was. Using the editor isn't the only option, there is a regular campaign that can be played with 1-4 players. User levels can be downloaded online so you really would never run out of stuff to play.

Also, I think you missed part of what makes this game special. Both of those levels didn't really demonstrate how you can build on your ship during gameplay.

Here is a playthrough of Campaign 2-1.

I got my copy for 20 bucks, I'd say go for it.

I love this game. It's one of those games that I really wish I had more time to play around with. I have done some very basic stuff with it, but nothing really big. The editor is really simple, too, which is the really cool part about it. It's a lot like the gummi ship editor of KH2, but you get a lot more flexibility and a lot more power.

You should definitely share some stuff you make if you get the chance.
