Final Fantasy Fans all over have been watering at the mouth for the chance to choose their favorite FF character, and use them to kill another FF character. Well, that time has come, as Dissidia Final Fantasy will be hitting the PSP in the U.S. on August 25th.

While the game will have a plot, which focuses on the Gods of Harmony(Cosmos) and Destruction(Chaos) trying to take control of the various final Fantasy Worlds, the main draw of the game lies in it's 2 plays competitive battles. As mentioned, gamers will have a selection of famous FF characters to choose from, which mainly represent the main heroes and villains of their respective games. The List of characters is as follows:

Final Fantasy-
(H)Warrior of Light
(V)Garland

Final Fantasy II-
(H)Firion
(V) The Emperor

Final Fantasy III-
(H)The Onion Knight
(V)Cloud of Darkness

Final Fantasy IV-
(H)Cecil Harvey
(V)Golbez

Final Fantasy V-
(H)Bartz Klauser
(V)Exdeath

Final Fantasy VI-
(H)Terra Branford
(V)Kefka Palazzo

Final Fantasy VII-
(H)Cloud Strife
(V)Sephiroth

Final Fantasy VIII-
(H)Squall Leonhart
(V)Ultimecia

Final Fantasy IX-
(H)Zidane Tribal
(V)Kuja

Final Fantasy X-
(H)Tidus
(V)Jecht

Final Fantasy XI-
(H)Shantotto

Final Fantasy XII-
(V)Judge Gabranth

Players will fight in a 3D battlefield much like a traditional fighting game, however, the gameplay itself will be reminiscent of games like Kingdom Hearts. Players will fight to deplete their enemy's HP bar, but will also have what are called "Bravery Meters", which determine how strong a character's attacks are. Overall, it is strategically important to deplete the Bravery Meter to weaken your enemy.

Here's the opening cinematic...which is, needless to say, quite epic...

More info on the game as it comes...

You did, this is strictly just for news and updates. Very Happy

I've also discovered that the English voice actors from Final Fantasy X will be returning for Dissidia.

As for Shantotto and Gabranth, I'm still not sure if the voices will be the same. Obviously the voices for the older characters will be new as they didn't have voices before. Then again, it would be cool to hear the voice actors from Advent Children.

The english cast is as follows thus far:

Warrior of Light: Grant George
Firion: Johnny Yong Bosch
Cloud Strife: Steve Burton (reprised role)
Zidane Tribal: Sam Riegel
Cecil Harvey: Yuri Lowenthal (reprised role)
Tidus: James Arnold Taylor (reprised role)
Jecht: Gregg Berger (reprised role)

So far, it seems that most of the voice actors will be reprising their roles with the exception of a few characters who are being fully voiced for the first time in a video game! Should be interesting to see an updated list but I like the choices so far Very Happy

Ah, very interesting! It's nice to see so many great voice actors coming back...this is a great sign that they're putting a lot of effort into the U.S. version of the game.

I wonder if Lance Bass will be voicing Sephiroth? scratch (he voice him in Kingdom Hearts I).

Haha! I remember hearing his voice on KH1. I was wierded out. For some reason, I didn't think it was a good choice to have him voice Sephiroth. But the Sephiroth role later became George Newbern's for all other appearance including Advent Children and KH2. I highly doubt Lance Bass will be dubbing Sephiroth anytime soon which is great because I prefer George Newbern's voice acting better. Cool

Yeah...it was a bit...strange to say the least. Especiallu considering Lance is...well...you know. Embarassed Plus it could mean that Sephiroth could end up singing at some point, which would be strange...and a bit frightening. lol

Oh, btw, does anyone know if Dissidia will be online?

I don't know about that, but I know it is a multiplayer game so long as the person you're playing against has the game as well. The way it works is almost similar to the DS in that distance between handhelds can be pretty long. That said, the possibility of it being online is pretty great. I honestly hope it is. Wink

Wow, that's awesome. Bosch was great as Vash the Stampede, and his voice seems to fit Firion perfectly as well. It's cool they're getting some high profile voice actors. Now I'd just like to see an english battle with Tidus...haven't had much luck finding one though.

Oooo! Got to wait about eight more weeks for a Tidus one. IGN is releasing a new hero every week in chronological order. Firion is from FF2 so, I'm sure we'll be seeing a Tidus video in eight weeks. I'm also eager to hear how he sounds despite the fact that the original voice actor reprised his role for Tidus.

Also, Gamespy is doing the Villians in case you're interested in watching the vids while IGN does the Heroes side.
